William D. Bugbee, MD

Dr Bugbee is attending physician, Division of Orthopaedics, Scripps Clinic, La Jolla, California and Professor, University of California, San Diego. He is the director of the Scripps Cartilage Transplantation Center as well as the co director of the Scripps Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy Program.
Dr Bugbee’s clinical practice is focused on the treatment of complex cartilage problems and arthritis of the knee, hip and ankle, including the use of osteochondral transplantation, osteotomy and arthroplasty.
Dr Bugbee’s research focus related to cartilage involves pathogenesis of osteoarthritis, outcome of joint replacement, cartilage tissue engineering and both basic science and clinical outcome of osteochondral allograft transplantation, for which he was awarded the 2015 Kappa Delta Award.
