Dr. Rekant completed his undergraduate education Magna Cum Laude at Duke University and Medical School at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey - New Jersey Medical School on a full academic scholarship. He completed his Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at New York University Medical Center - NYU Medical School after a general surgery internship. Dr. Rekant fulfilled his specialty training with a Hand and Upper Extremity Surgical Fellowship with The Philadelphia Hand Center and Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. He continues to be active on several committees with the AAHS and ASSH while serving as program chair for Hand and Wrist for the AAOS meeting.
